Man in roadworks tragedy on M25

A man has died following an incident in roadworks on the M25.

The incident took place between junctions two and three of the motorway at about 3.23pm yesterday.

The man was on duty working at the site when the incident occurred. It is unclear how he died. Kent Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched a joint investigation into the incident.

The site remains sealed off this morning but the HSE said it had finished its on-site investigation.

A Kent Police spokesman said the victim's family were being contacted.

A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: "The Highways Agency expressses its deepest condolences to the family of the person killed in this tragic incident"

The Highways Agency, which is responsible for maintaining the road, said it will work with and fully support investigating authorities.
