A 53 -YEAR-OLD man was killed on the A228 in the early today in an accident involving a lorry.

The HGV and a car collided at 1am on the road near Thamesport, Isle of Grain.

Alexander Diggle, of High Street, Grain, who was driving a blue Metro, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The A228 was closed from 1.15am and re-opened at 5am.

The driver of the lorry has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving.

A postmortem will be carried out on Monday and an inquest opened and adjourned on Tuesday.
