Man treated for head wounds after assault

A TEENAGER needed 16 stitches after being attacked in Broadstairs. The 18-year-old victim was walking with a 17-year-old girl in Binnie Close when they were approached by a youth.

He punched the 18-year-old man several times in the head. When then tried to defend her friend and she too was punched. The youth stole a mobile phone before running off.

The 18-year-old man was taken to Margate's Queen Mother Hospital where he was treated for head wounds.

A 17-year-old Ramsgate youth was later charged with robbery and assault.
