A man has had the tip of his nose bitten off in a brawl outside a restaurant.

Police and ambulance crews were sent to Vari Bar and Restaurant, in Newington, near Sittingbourne.

A witness said an argument between a large party of diners spilled out into the car park.

He said: "My friend’s girlfriend came back from the toilet and said there was a bit of a row going on.

"A guy punched a woman in the face but, to be honest, that didn’t look intentional, he was more trying to push her away.

"But her brother was there and said 'Why did you hit my sister?'

"They went head-to-head and the guy bit the tip of the brother's nose clean off. There was blood everywhere."

A woman got involved and the attacker was seen smashing her head against a wall, leaving her with a large cut from her eyebrow to the back of her head.

Vari owner Kunwar Sood said none his staff or other diners were involved and he called the police at about 9.30pm on Saturday.

He said: "I regret any inconvenience that may have been caused to our other guests by events outside the restaurant."

Kent Police said they are investigating a report of grievous bodily harm and were speaking to those involved, who were all known to each other.
