Man's wallet stolen as he visits cash point
Published: 00:00, 02 November 2001
A 61-YEAR-OLD man had his wallet stolen while using a cash point at the HSBC bank in the Ramsgate High Street. The victim was accompanied by his elderly mother-in-law and was pre-occupied talking to her when two men standing behind him began urging him to hurry up.
The man withdrew a large amount of cash and put it into his wallet, which he then put in a pocket. A few minutes later he went to pay for something and found the wallet missing.
It is a brown Calvin Klein leather wallet, and contained £450 cash and a number of bank and building society cards.
Police are keen to trace the two men in the queue. The first was white, in his late 20’s and about 5ft 9in tall. He had dark brown, dirty collar length hair. He was wearing a dark leather jacket, blue jeans and trainers.
His companion was also in his late 20s, white and about 5ft 6in tall. He was stocky with light brown hair. Police are checking CCTV footage, but hope that witnesses will remember seeing the man with his mother-in-law, and will come forward.
