A busy dual carriageway had to be closed after a car collided with the central reservation.

The A2 coastbound near Cobham was briefly shut on Wednesday afternoon after a motorist lost control. No other vehicles are thought to have been involved in the crash.

The driver, a woman in her 30s, was in said to be in shock but otherwise unhurt.

Emergency crews were called to the scene just before midday. Two fire crews, from Strood and Thames-side attended, along with Kent Police, paramedics and the Highways Agency.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: “The female driver was already out of the car when we arrived. Our job was to make the scene safe.

"We had to close the road for a short time while we recovered the vehicle onto the hard shoulder.”
