A YOUTH who mugged an elderly man in Ramsgate got away with a bag of groceries. The attack happened last night in a block of flats in Clements Road.

The 66-year-old victim was climbing the stairs when a youth pushed past him. When he got to the communal hallway outside his flat, the youth was waiting.

He told the man he had a knife and rummaged inside his jacket. The youth then grabbed the carrier bag the victim was carrying and made off. The bag contained a bottle of whisky and two pints of milk.

The attacker was aged between 16 and 18, and around 5ft 8in tall. He was slim to medium build with dark hair. He was wearing a dark coat and trousers, trainers and possibly a cap.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Margate police.
