A 32-year-old has tied the knot with a man she had previously never met as a part of the new series of Married at First Sight UK.

Peggy Rose Lawrence, who lives with her parents in Bexley, made her debut on the Channel 4 show which kicked off last night.

Known as “Picky Peggy” due to her high standards for a potential match, the technology risk partner decided to take the leap and marry a stranger.

Peggy revealed her family thought her nuptials were a “sick joke” and that her brother did not speak to her throughout filming, she told OK! Magazine.

She said: “My brother wanted nothing to do with it, and we only started talking to each other again after the filming had ended.

"And even now he doesn't want to talk about it. He’s very anti the whole thing - my older protective brother. But, you know, it was my choice.”

Peggy, who has family in Whitstable, is no stranger to dating reality TV having previously appeared on ITV’s Take Me Out.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 described the bombshell: “Standing at 5 '10”, it is fair to say Peggy turns heads whenever she enters a room.

“Over the years, the secret geek has picked up the nickname -“Picky Peggy,” due to how she is with men and “Peggy in the middle,” as she is always the centre of any drama.

“She lives the glam life, but when it comes to men she is still searching for a happy conclusion to her fairytale.

“Peggy is more than ready for her knight in shining armour, and she will not stop until she gets what she wants – a man!”
