A YOUNG cyclist is in hospital with serious head injuries after being found unconscious early today by a police patrol.

The 20-year-old man, from Ramsgate, was found at Ramsgate Road, Margate, between Lester’s public house and the Victoria traffic lights at about 12.40am.

He was taken to the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate, and then transferred to the William Harvey at Ashford. He is being treated for a fractured skull.

A police spokeswoman said: “We have no idea if he lost control of his bike and crashed or if he was hit by a passing vehicle. It is fortunate that he was found by our officers.”

Anyone with information is asked to telephone traffic officer PC Alan Davison on 01843 222124.
