A massive field of more than 1,900 runners completed the Gatorade Bluewater 10k on Sunday morning, with victory going to 2004 Athens Olympics steeplechaser Tewodros Shiferaw of Ethiopia in 29mins 13secs, writes Alan Newman.

Kenyan athletes Edwin Kipyego (29.54) and Isaac Kimutai (29.56) also broke 30 minutes.

The leading British runner, Ben Louch (32.55) of Dartford Road Runners (pictured), was fourth overall and ahead of the top three women, Edina Kwambai (33.39) from Kenya, Tamirat Getenesh (34.44) from Ethiopia and Natalie Harvey (35.17) of South London Harriers.

Leading men included Andrew Green (M40, 35.39) of Dartford RR, Kevin Williams (M50, 36.36) of Ashford AC, Rob White (M40, 37.49) of Dartford Road Runners and Mike Poppy (M40, 39.10) of Sittingbourne Striders.

Tomasz Witkowicz (39.52) of Medway and Maidstone was among the 42 athletes under 40 minutes and Sarah Kenyon (W40, 44.38) of Medway and Maidstone was tenth in the women’s race.
