This weekend we travel to Wycombe and go there determined to finally put the away hoodoo to bed.

They are now definitely playing League 2 football next season and I’m sure they will want to finish the season positively after the disappointment of relegation.

Our need is greater, though, and hopefully that will shine through in the result and performance.

We’re going to have more than 2,000 supporters backing us and I know that can make a big difference.

It’s a massive game and we’ll be going there to get the three points, even though we know that a draw is likely to be good enough given Tranmere’s goal difference.

I’m sure our fans will tell us if things are going our way but we can’t rely on other teams – we know we need to do our jobs right.

If we can reproduce what we did last Saturday against Southampton, then I’m sure we can do it.

It was great to finish our home season with a good win and beating a side like Southampton again reinforced what we can achieve when we are on form.

We had threatened to score before Rene broke the deadlock after Jacko had beaten the keeper to the ball. It was a harder finish than it looked and Rene deserved his goal.

When Southampton came out for the second half, there were no illusions that they weren’t going for it as they put on Lambert and Waigo to go three up front.

We stuck to our game, though, and went 2-0 up. Great play from Westy and a terrific cross for Josh to rise highest and plant a great header beyond Davis to give us a nice cushion which was needed after Connolly took advantage of one of his only chances to set up a tense finish.

As ever at home we stood firm and saw the game out.

Looking at our home form we have to be delighted. We have only lost three and managed to gather 44 points.

As a team, players, management and fans we can all take great satisfaction from that record.
