A VAN driver had a narrow escape from injury when a missile was hurled at his vehicle as he drove under a bridge.

The object shattered the rear window of his vehicle, a Fiat Ducatto, as he travelled along the Old Thanet Way at Greenhill, between Herne Bay and Whitsable.

Police spokesman Michael Ivatt said: "Children are believe to be responsible. The driver noticed a large group of young people standing on a bridge and start to run in the direction of a local school.
