HMS Ocelot is currently in dry dock

THE winner of the online auction to be the first person to abseil off a submarine is James Pollington, 35, of Gillingham. He won the unique experience with a bid of £360.01.

Mr Pollington, who is an areas sales manager for Hotchkiss Air Supply, which has a branch in Maidstone, was delighted with the win.

He will now be the first person to abseil off HMS Ocelot, currently in dry dock at the Historic Dockyard, Chatham, at 9am on Sunday.

Around 50 participants have registered to take part in the charity abseil, which will support the KM Walking Bus Project and Medway Cerebral Palsy Unit.
