Gravesend hottest place in county as the heatwave continues

There may have been thunder and lightning last Friday, but today is set to be another scorcher.

Gravesend was the hottest place to be in the country yesterday with temperatures reaching 30.6C.

Manston, meanwhile, was the sunniest place in the UK yesterday.

Today, Kent's highest temperature could hit 30C, which is likely to be in Maidstone.

The weekend is also looking bright, if not marginally cooler, with temperatures reaching 25C in Gillingham by 2pm tomorrow and 24C in Folkestone.

While the weekend will be filled with hot sunshine, the Met Office has said there is an increasing chance of thundery showers by Tuesday next week.
