A RAILWAY station was sealed off and part of a busy high street closed after petrol cans were spotted in a car.
Police and the Army were called after anxious Rochester station staff feared the vehicle might be a threat to commuters and passers-by.
Police officers swiftly cordoned off a stretch of the high street from Star Hill to Nag’s Head Lane.
Sandi Digby, who lives in nearby St Margaret's Banks, said: "It was quite frightening when we heard a car had petrol cans inside and had been found at the station.
"Thoughts of that terrible scene at Glasgow Airport in June shot into my mind."
Police tracked down the vehicle's owner, who explained she had a boat moored nearby and the fuel was for its generator.
