Motorists travelling around the county over the next week need to know about the planned roadworks that could disrupt their journeys.

Below is a list of planned roadworks in Kent from Monday, February 25 to Sunday, March 3 which are ongoing across the county.

Highways England say the works could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances and all work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 junctions 1 to 3 Medway: bridge works

Work to improve safety continues this week on the M2 by undertaking bridge joint replacements.

Currently there is an eastbound junction 2 entry slip road closure in place for 24-hour periods.

There is also a 24-hour contraflow in place, this is expected to remain in place until early March 2019.

In addition, on Wednesday, February 27 there will be a full eastbound carriageway closure between junction 3 and junction 1 for three nights between 8pm and 6am.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A229, M20 and A228.

M2 junction 3, Blue Bell Hill: Kent County Council resurfacing

Closures to assist KCC in improving journeys continue this week on the M2.

On Monday, there will be a full closure of the eastbound and westbound exit slips at junction 3 for four nights between 8pm and 6am and returning on the westbound exit slip on Friday, March 1, overnight between 8pm and 6am.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next available junction.

M20 junctions 3 to 5, Maidstone: Smart Motorways

Work to improve journeys continues this week on the M20 between junctions 3 and 5.

There are currently narrow lanes and a reduced speed limit of 50mph in place 24/7.

On Friday, March 1, there will be a full closure of the westbound exit slip road at junction 4 for three nights between 8pm and 6am.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next available junction.

Free recovery service and speed enforcement remain in place to ensure drivers and road workers safety.

M20 junction 9 (Ashford) to 7 (Maidstone): road surface repairs

Work to improve journeys continues this week on the M20.

From Monday there will be a full M20 westbound carriageway closure from junction 9 to junction 7 from 8pm to 6am for five nights, and returning on Sunday, March 3 overnight between 8pm and 6am.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A20.

M20 junction 9 (Ashford) to 11 (Hythe): junction 10a Construction

Work to improve the network continues this week on the M20.

There are currently 24-hour lane closures and 50mph speed restriction in place in both directions between junctions 9 and 11.

This will remain in place until January 2020.

In addition on Saturday, March 2, there will be a full carriageway closure eastbound between junction 9 and 11, and westbound between junctions 11 and 10 overnight from 8pm through till Sunday, March 3, at 10am and returning on Sunday overnight from 8pm to 6am.

A clearly signed diversion westbound will be in place via M20, A2, M2 and A249.

M20 junction 2 Wrotham to junction 3 (M26): smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes and 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways, with a free recovery service operating 24-hours a day.

M25 junction 5 Sevenoaks, Kent: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week.

The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday, February 25.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M26 junction 2a, A20, M20 junction 2, M20 junction 1 and return.

A2 (M25), Kent: junction improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety as part of the Junction Improvement Programme will continue this week.

The eastbound carriageway will have narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit in place 24-hours a day.

The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5:30am from Thursday, February 28 for two nights.

Work on Friday will start at 11pm.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit slip at the M25 junction 2 and return via the entry slip road.

The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am on Friday, March 1.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2 to Dartford heath and return.

A20 Dover: bridge works

Work to improve safety continues this week on the A20 by undertaking bridge joint replacements.

On Friday, March 1, there will be a full carriageway closure in both directions between The Viaduct to Lord Warden Square for three nights between 8pm and 6am.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Strond Street and through the Dover Harbour boat yard.

A21 Tonbridge: weakened structure

For the safety of road users there is currently a 50mph speed restriction, and a weight restriction between Philpots Lane overbridge and the junction of London Road A26 in both directions of the A21.

A2070 Ashford, Kent: Junction 10a Construction

Work to improve the network continues this week on the A2070.

There is currently a contraflow with 40 mph speed restriction in place between The Boulevard and the M20 Junction 10.
