Police hope to indentify this mystery man, who walked into a hospital's unit.

Police have identified a man with amnesia who woke up on a Deal beach last week.

A crucial call to police within the last few hours is believed to have led to the 59-year-old being identified.

Officers say the man, who walked into a minor injuries unit in Deal with only a pack of cigarettes, sunglasses and a walking stick to his name, is from Derbyshire.

But they haven't elaborated on how he came to be on the beach last Thursday - or given any details about his name.

His wife and stepchildren have confirmed who he is, and he is said to still be in a Kent hospital.
