DIVERS have failed to find any clues about the disappearance of a 24-year-old man who hasn't been seen since the weekend.

Christopher Lawless, 24, failed to return home from a night out at the Amadeus nightclub in Chariot Way, Strood, on Saturday.

He vanished after leaving the popular meeting place on the Medway Valley Business Park at about 2.40am.

On Wednesday members of a police diving team checked a stretch of the River Medway which Mr Lawless may have passed after leaving the club. The river would have been at high tide at the time. The search drew a blank.

Mr Lawless comes from Mottingham in south-east London. His girlfriend reported him missing.

Ch Insp Iain Mackenzie, who is leading the search, said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help us locate Christopher.

"He is not in any trouble. We just want to make sure he is safe and well.

"He has not made contact with his girlfriend or family since his disappearance and they are concerned for his welfare.

"At present there is no explanation for Christopher’s disappearance. He has never gone missing before and it is out of character for him not to return home after an evening out.

Help sought from nightclub revellers

"I am certain that there must have been many revellers in the nightclub who may be able to shed some light on what exactly has happened."

Mr Lawless is white, of stocky build with short brown hair. He was wearing a blue jumper with diamonds in a "Pringle" style on it. He also wore brown boots with ankle straps.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Medway Police on 01634 792524.
