KENT Police has won an award for promoting fairness and diversity within the force.
The force was the only one in the country to receive the diversity award, given at the National Black Police Association’s international conference in Manchester.
Achievements include introducing a diversity training programme focusing on the recruitment, retention, progression and development of officers and staff from ethnic minorities or with other differences.
Ann Barnes, chairman of Kent Police Authority said: "The battle of dismantling barriers with communities and staff is very real and the authority takes the issue of prejudice very seriously.
"It’s crucial the force continues to build trust to bridge any gaps."
