Police hunt crash-and-run driver

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a driver ran off following a three-car crash in Margate. The accident happened in Tivoli Park Avenue when a BMW was waiting to turn into the Meregate estate.

It was hit by a Saab coming from the opposite direction which then crashed into a parked car. The Saab, which is thought to be stolen, was abandoned. The driver is said to be in his early to mid 30s, with dark hair and a goatee beard.

The BMW driver was taken to the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate, and treated for minor injuries.

The accident happened yesterday at 4.30pm on and the road was closed until 7pm. The investigating officer is PC Neil Fuller from the Thanet traffic unit, telephone 01843 222124.
