A website tried to lure customers from an established Honda motorcycle dealership.

Kent Motorcycles at Barham were made aware of the site which had a similar name to theirs.

The other site has now been taken down and police and trading standards are investigating.

Peter Hatcher, of Kent Motorcycles, said the business was alerted by another Honda dealer.

A Dutchman later rang Kent Motorcycles to say he had been discussing the purchase of a Honda Goldwing with the suspect operator, who had emailed him asking for a 3,000 euro deposit.

Mr Hatcher said: “Fortunately, he got our number and spoke to us before proceeding with any payment.”
