A MOTORBIKE was seized by police after officers staged a stakeout in a Kent village to catch out riders creating noise and driving without their lights on.

Police responded to the complaints of seven homeowners in Marden, near Maidstone, after a motorbike was seen causing a nuisance around the orchards behind The Cockpit.

On hearing the motorbike coming, the officers spread themselves out around the area to block the bike’s escape route and take the riders by surprise.

The vehicle was successfully stopped and seized, and the driver was given a verbal warning.

The incident occurred on December 12 and PCSO Mark Ibbott said: “I hope this seizure sends a message to those creating a nuisance on motorbikes that this behaviour will not be tolerated.

“Not only does it make the lives of local residents who have to endure the noise of these bikes a misery, but it is extremely dangerous to go out riding without lights on at night.”

Mr Ibbott said he and his colleagues would be clamping down on any instances of offenders using motorbikes anti-socially, and those found flouting the law could have their motorbikes seized and end up in court.
