Cllrs Bill Esterson and Craig Mackinlay join residents on village clear-up

Councillors from opposite sides of the political divide joined forces on Sunday for a community clear up.

Cllrs Bill Esterson (Lab) and Craig Mackinlay (Con),who both represent River Ward on Medway Council joined a team of Brompton residents in clearing rubbish and cutting back the vegetation in Flaxmans Court. The event was organised by Netty Isles North who lives in the area.

Cllr Esterson said, “It was really good to be able to help the local community and to tidy up one corner of the village.

"The way that Brompton residents are taking control of their community is an object lesson in good local action and I look forward to the next event.”

Cllr Craig Mackinlay commented “I always call Brompton ‘the Village’ within the town; this co-ordinated action by local residents adds to the glue of community. We had a morning of hard work together with obvious positive results – bring on the next clean-up!”

The Brompton Conservation Association is holding a Halloween party next Friday at the Brompton Community Centre. More details can be found on the Brompton village website, www.bromptonvillage.co.uk.
