Pothole blitz success

By: Gemma Constable

Are Sheppey's roads pothole free?

More than 11,000 potholes were repaired during a blitz of the county’s roads, including Sheppey, last month.

Of those, 8,394 were carried out following calls from residents and highways inspectors to Kent Highways Services.

But Islanders can still report problems in their roads for action.

Cllr Keith Ferrin, KCC cabinet member for Highways, said: “This is a very good result and I want to say a big thank you to all those residents who sent in reports.

“The end of the blitz does not mean that the work stops or that we will rest on our laurels. The KHS teams will continue maintaining one of the largest road networks in Britain.

“We want the public to carry on supporting us in keeping Kent moving as we can’t be everywhere at once.”

Report potholes online or by calling the report line on 08458 247 800.
