Retail giant Primark has announced it is closing all of its stores tonight until further notice amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

The company, which has stores in Dartford, Gravesend, Maidstone, Chatham, Broadstairs, Canterbury, and Folkestone, said the decision had been made with the health and safety of staff and customers in mind.

A spokesman said: "With the health and welfare of our employees and customers front of mind, we have made the decision to close our stores in the UK, until further notice.

"We thank all our employees, customers, suppliers and partners for their continued support."

The news comes after John Lewis announced it is going to temporarily close all of its Kent stores at close of business on Monday.
