Signalling problems are causing delays on the railway across Kent.

Southeastern and Thameslink train services are set to be held up from London to various parts of the county for at least three hours.

The problems in Swanley are causing at least 15 to 20 minutes of hold-ups to five different lines through Maidstone East.

This includes Southeastern services running between London Victoria or Charing Cross and Ramsgate, Canterbury East, Ashford International and Folkestone Central.

A Thameslink service between London Blackfriars and Sevenoaks is also affected.

A National Rail statement read: "A fault with the signalling system is affecting services in the Swanley area, affecting services running to and from the Maidstone East Line.

"Staff are on site and continue to work to investigate the cause of the fault in order to fix it as quickly as possible, but at the moment there is no estimate for when the issue will be resolved."

Disruption is expected until at least 9pm.
