Five reasons England fans across Kent have to be happy today

After the heartbreak of England's semi-final World Cup defeat it might feel like there's nothing to cheer us up.

As we hold our hungover heads, life feels grim without Gareth Southgate and the crew in it.

But we've dug deep to bring you reasons why it's a good time to be cheerful...

1. It's going to be a scorching weekend...

During the month-long football competition, the weather has been sizzling.

The clear skies have helped put people in good moods... and it's set to continue.

With the mercury hitting 27C on Saturday and Sunday, it could be a good reason to crack open the barbecue.

2. There's a jam-packed weekend of events

If you don't fancy watching England's third place play-off or the World Cup final itself, there's plenty to do around Kent.

You can head to Leeds Castle for some classical music, live music at Dartford Festivalor Gravesend's Riverside Festival.

3. You only have to wait three more days to see people spitting cherries!

Brogdale Cherry fair is heading to Faversham on Sunday and is sure to put a smile on your face.

The action-packed day gives you the chance to take part in the cherry pip spit challenge, where you can attempt to break the 53ft record.

If that doesn't tickle your fancy, you can get stuck into the pie eating competition or watch the pig racing.

4. Only a couple of weeks of the school run left

The dreaded school run will soon be over for parents across the county as their kids finish school for summer.

You'll be preparing for your holidays or weeks off - what's not to be happy about that?

Make sure you're prepared for the break and plan your summer around some amazing events in Kent.
