This cute new guest is setting up home at Wingham Wildlife Park.

Lushan the red panda made the short journey from Colchester Zoo in Essex to the park as part of its educational and conservation work.

Red pandas are classified as being vulnerable in the wild, which means their numbers are decreasing and they face hardships in the wild.

Originally from Asia, their numbers are now as low as 10,000 in the wild - equivalent to about a third of the student population in Kent.

Joint owner Tony Binskin said: "At the moment we have got a single female, however even with just one animal we can help make a real difference to this species.

"Conservation isn't just about breeding animals, if anything it is just as important to ensure that people are educated about their difficulties in the wild, and I think this girl will make a great ambassador for Red Pandas."

Lushan has now moved in to a custom-built enclosure at the park near Canterbury.
