A young offender staged a one-man protest on Tuesday on the roof of Cookham Wood Prison.

The boy, who has not been identified, somehow climbed up on the roof of one of the buildings in the prison complex at about 8.30am.

The prison, in Sir Evelyn Road, Rochester, used to house women, but this year it switched to accommodate young male prisoners

It is now used for young men under the age of 18, with around 160 places.
