Thanet music fans have the chance to see the country's current top band in action at Margate Winter Gardens in May.

Scouting for Girls hold the number one spot in the charts with their album Everybody Wants To Be On TV and the single This Ain't A Love Song.

Their appearance on Tuesday, May 18, as part of a British tour, is another coup for the venue which is attracting big names in the world of music and comedy.

Two years ago, the trio, fronted by the exuberant showman Roy Stride, arrived with a clutch of contagious hits -- including She's So Lovely, Heartbeat, It's Not About You, and Elvis Ain't Dead -- and one of the most successful debut albums (Scouting For Girls) in years. This culminated in Brit Award nominations -- British Breakthrough Act, British Single (Heartbeat), and British Live Act) -- and sold-out tours.

Scouting For Girls spent part of 2009 back in the studio creating a second album of pop anthems, with Roy claiming the band "wanted to write the perfect pop song and an album where every song was good enough to be a single."

The band promise Thanet fans a treat. Roy added: "It makes things more interesting on the night if the fans get involved with our performances. Standing watching a band play their album is fine, but actually having a good night out where you feel like you've experienced something special is much more fun. We try to feel a connection with everyone."

Joining keyboard player Roy on stage are Greg Churchouse on bass and vocals, and Pete Ellard, drums and vocals.
