Second M20 crash causes jams

DRIVERS suffered more traffic chaos on the M20 following yesterday morning’s serious accident near Wrotham in which a lorry is believed to have crashed through the central reservation into oncoming traffic.
Eight people were taken to hospital, two with serious injuries. The road was partially re-opened by 2.20pm. It was completely cleared last night.
But shortly after 6pm a crash between a Rover and a blue Vauxhall Astra near Boxley blocked all three lanes of the coast-bound carriageway.
A man was taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital with head injuries and a woman was taken to Maidstone Hospital with an injured leg. Neither is in a life-threatening condition.
The second crash again caused heavy traffic along the A20, although not on the scale of the earlier accident.
Drivers were spared long delays on Wednesday when police acted quickly to remove a carpet from the London-bound carriageway, shortly after 7am. The carpet was blocking two lanes and causing traffic to swerve to avoid it.
