A bomb disposal team has carried out a controlled explosion of a Second World War shell found off the coast of Sheerness.
A vessel called the Arco Avon dredged up the unexploded eight-inch long shell.
It was discovered after the ship berthed in Sheerness Docks on Thursday morning.
Coastguard officers and a Royal Navy bomb disposal team then took the shell, escorted by police, to the beach at Barton’s Point.
A controlled explosion to destroy the device was carried out at 1pm.
