Crash on Four Elms Hill on A228 at Chattenden on Hoo forces road to close

A serious crash has forced a major road to be shut for more than six hours this morning.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene of the smash on one of the main roads in Hoo at around 3.50am.

The incident occured on Four Elms Hill on the A228 at Chattenden.

Fire crews arrived to find two men in the car.

They used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the driver's door.

Once both men were free of the vehicle they were placed in the care of paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service and care of the scene was left with Kent Police.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at around 3.50am regarding a collision involving two cars.

"Officers, ambulance crews and the fire service attended the scene where two people were treated for injuries. They were both conveyed to a London hospital for further medical attention.

"The Rochester-bound carriageway was closed while one of the cars is recovered. It reopened at 9.30am."

One person remains at a London hospital where his condition is described as stable. The other casualty has been discharged.
