Blue Skies School is taped off after the incident

Police have begun an investigation into a serious sexual assault in Medway.

The incident took place at around 1am on Sunday in the New Road area of Rochester.

The victim is a woman in her 20s.

Police sealed off an area next to New Road, Chatham on Sunday afternoon after what was initially said to be a robbery.

Two officers stood guard near the Blue Skies School, a centre for children with special education needs. Cranborne Bowling Club and Fort Pitt Gardens are also nearby.
