A mum and daughter duo who tried their luck in a dance competition came out with second prize, despite a slight hiccup in their performance.

Sarah Jo Vane and her 11-year-old daughter Maisy, from Headcorn, gave it their all at a Street Dance Champs competition, held at Greenacre Academy in Walderslade yesterday.

In an unplanned entry into the class, the pair attempted a stunt they'd previously rehearsed, but it didn't exactly go to plan.

Mrs Vane's friend captured the moment on video, which has been watched on Facebook nearly 7,000 times.

But the slip up didn't affect their overall mark, as the pair came second.

Mrs Vane, said: "The move didn't go as planned, she was meant to do a box split but I pulled her too hard in the moment.

"She literally went flying, I didn't realise how bad it was until I watched the video."

"I think she was in shock but she dealt with it so well. I thought she would have had a melt down but she was a true star and carried on like a true professional and she was so good."

Maisy - who was competing for Stardust Studios in their first competition - didn't suffer any injuries.

As a solo dancer she placed third, as well as bagging the third prize in the group section alongside her squad.
