HERO: Graham Head

A BRAVE passer-by has told how he stepped in to stop a robber making off with a haul of cash.

Grandad Graham Head, 61, saw the attempt to grab the bag of money from a shopkeeper who was heading for the Post Office in Watling Street, Gillingham.

The former Royal Engineer, who lives in Gillingham, said: "I thought they were fighting at first. Then I realised what was going on so I went to help.

"I hit the robber and grabbed hold of the bag. He tried to pull the bag back which twisted me around and I fell on my knees. But I still managed to hit him again and then he ran off.

"When I saw what was going on I thought, you're not doing that, I don't want that happening in my area."
