Strong winds and rain are lashing Kent this morning.

A severe weather warning was in place until 9am.

There were fears gusts of up to 80mph could bring the risk of damage to trees, travel disruption, and large waves crashing onto seafronts.

The conditions are expected to ease by late-morning.

A flood alert is in place for the rivers Eden, Eden Brook and Kent Ditch from Blindley Heath to Penshurst, including Edenbridge and Hever.

There are also delays of up to an hour and a half on P&O Ferries and two hours on DFDS services between Dover and Calais due to the adverse weather conditions.
