Tappin pleads guilty to selling missiles to Iran

A Kent golf boss has pleaded guilty to selling parts for surface-to-air missiles to Iran.

Christopher Tappin, 66, was extradited to the US for alleged arms dealing.

But he made the plea at a court in El Paso, Texas, in an agreement with US prosecutors.

He is now due to be sentenced on January 9 next year.

Mr Tappin, from Orpington, was extradited under a treaty with the US, which means prosecutors can demand a suspect is handed over without the evidence ever being tested in a British court.

He was the president of the Kent Golf Society.
