An eco-armada led by the Rainbow Warrior have ambushed the potential site of the UK's first coal fired plant in 30 years.
Around 30 Greenpeach protesters landed at the Kingsnorth Power Station on Hoo, with another group setting up camp on a neighbouring island ready to project the words 'Gordon Bin It' down the side of the landmark chimney at dusk.
Organisers said this plan had been delayed last night by technical problems.
The Greenpeace volunteers were able to hold a sombre and dignified ceremony for the victims of climate change during 30 minutes on the jetty.
Police remain at the scene. Supt Steve Brightman from Medway Police, said: "We are aware that the Rainbow Warrior is in Medway today and are monitoring the situation to ensure that any protest remains lawful and peaceful.
"We want to keep any disruption to people living and working in the area to a minimum."
