Teens deny murdering youth in Afghan violence

Four teenagers have denied murdering another youth during violence between about 30 Afghans in Folkestone earlier this year.

Fazulmaq Walizada, 18, Farid Hussani, 18, Eraij Faqirzada, thought to be at least 18, and a 17-year-old boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, all entered the pleas at Reading Crown Court last Friday.

They denied murdering Osman Sherzad, 17, who died from stab wounds, and violent disorder in Marine Terrace on January 24.

Faqirzada, of no fixed address, Walizada, of Channel House, Bradstone Road, Folkestone, Hussani, of Folkestone Road, Dover, and the other youth, of Ashford, were remanded in custody.

Maidstone Crown Court, where the trial will be held, has heard Faqirzada was stabbed four times and was in hospital for several weeks. Others were also injured.

Trial judge Mr Justice Cooke adjourned the case until July 1 when the next hearing will be at Luton Crown Court. The trial is expected to be in October.
