Just when it looked like the temperature was picking up a bit they plummets back down again.

The gritters are heading out to cover all main roads in the county as temperatures are expected to fall below freezing by tomorrow morning.

Kent County Council has warned motorists to watch out for icy patches on untreated roads.

Temperatures are expected to drop

The authority issued this statement: "They (drivers) should drive cautiously and be deliberate and slower in actions and not be surprised by 'sudden' traffic light changes or other vehicles braking.

"Harsh braking, harsh steering or harsh acceleration are key precursors to skidding on ice and snow."

Ready for this winter, the authority asked the public to name the gritters.
