Every month the calendar is filled with days to mark quirky events.

We take a look at some of those coming up, and those which have already been marked.

1. World Kindness Day, November 13

Next week, many people are expected to mark the occasion by showing random acts of kindness.

In previous years the organisation Kindness UK says tens of thousands of free chocolate bars have been handed to travellers in London's transport hubs and in Scotland there was a Kind Kids Award ceremony.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world in Australia, people were getting involved in a giant Kindness Hug on Bondi Beach.

2. Clean Out Your Fridge Day, November 15

Search this on the internet and you'll find all sorts of different recipes to use up the rest of that veg in the shelf with the one egg you have to your name.

Once you're done though make sure you wipe the shelves down to embrace the day the right way.

A few tips include emptying everything out of it, get rid of anything you don't use and vacuuming underneath it.

3. Guy Fawkes Day, November 5

Since we were children we've always been told to "remember, remember the 5th of November".

The reason the day is so synonymous with fire works is because it's the day of the 'Gunpowder Plot' which was set to blow up the Houses of Parliament.

The day commemorates the foiling of the scheme and is enjoyed by many by attending firework displays around the country.

4. National Vanilla Cupcake Day, Today

How much more of an excuse do you need to sit down with a cake (or two?).

This is celebrated every year by people either making or buying cupcakes to enjoy with a cuppa. There's even a dedicated hashtag for this one, #VanillaCupcakeDay.

5. International Men's Day, November 19

This is one of two days celebrated on this day and is aimed at raising awareness for men's health. Internationalmensday.com says the theme for this year is "celebrate men and boys".

The website also says a recent World Health Organisation study found that globally, male life expectancy at birth in 2015 was 69 years where as for females it was 74 years.

6. World Toilet Day, November 19

Day two of two celebrates the invention created by none other than Thomas Crapper.

Whether you call it the loo, lav or potty there can be no denying this is something we all take for granted.

Worldtoiletday.info is taking the opportunity to inspire people to help tackle the problem of poor sanitation in some of the world's poorest countries.

7. International Tongue Twister Day November 12

Red lorry, yellow lorry, red lorry, yellow lorry. Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

There are endless ways to enjoy this day.

8. National Square Dance Day, November 29

Are you a fan of folk dancing? Well if you are, this day is dedicated to you.

Get your cowboy hat on and get to the nearest dance hall you can find because this is all about taking the dance back to its roots.

It can be traced back to the traditional English, Irish and Scottish folk dances.

9. World Television Day, November 21

This day is looking to keep the role of the television alive in family life.

With the rise of streaming services the idea is to sit down and watch a programme from the TV guide, how old fashioned.

It is an annual event and this year taking place just in time for the arrival of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!
