Thousands of homes hit by power cuts

Around 3,000 electricity customers in the Seasalter area suffered power cuts on Thursday afternoon.
EDF Energy confirmed a loss in supply between 1pm and 3.40pm, due to a fault on a high voltage underground cable.
Engineers were able to restore the supply in stages, using alternative energy circuits.
Around 5.50pm, the same customers experienced a similar failure, but supply was eventually restored again at 6.30pm.
