Protesters have threatened to block the M25 and other major routes if the government delays Brexit.

They have set up a group on Twitter in a bid to mobilise support, which has attracted nearly 7,000 followers in less than three weeks.

Brexit Direct Action says it wants to "bring the country to its knees by blocking the main arterial routes."

This includes the M1, M6, M25, M62, A1, A55, M5, M4, M42, M55, M61, A66 among other routes.

The blockage has been scheduled to take place on Saturday to coincide with a March To Leave protest in Westminster.

The group says there has also been "significant demand" for truckers to be involved in a ‘go slow’ on the A2/A20 in Jubilee Way, Dover, with farmers and fishermen keen to join in.

A statement on its Twitter page says: "Action Brexit Group believe that our government should fulfil their manifesto and EU referendum pledge to exit the EU on 29th March with either an acceptable withdrawal agreement or WTO-managed exit.”

In a speech outside Downing Street tonight, Prime Minister Theresa May says Brexit will not happen until June 30 because of delays "caused by MPs".

It comes as several Kent MPs are among 75 so-called "waverers" who could hold the key to Theresa May’s hopes of getting her deal through.
