A 46-year-old woman was left with a bloodied lip after she was hit by a thug trying to steal her bag.

The woman had just returned to her home in Hengist Avenue, Margate, when the incident occurred.

She put her handbag over her shoulder and reached into her car to take out shopping bags when she felt someone tugging on her handbag. She turned round and hit out at the person, who hit her in the face, causing her lip to bleed.

The attacker ran off towards Dane Valley Road. He was about 5ft 8in tall and of thin build. He was wearing a dark blue, hooded top and light blue jeans.
