Thunderstorms are predicted to hit Kent this Friday, potentially bringing an end to weeks of glorious wall-to-wall sunshine.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, with heavy showers and flooding expected in some places.

Experts predict that up to 30mm of rain could fall in just one hour - compared to 4.1mm across the entire month of June.

The warning will be in place from 2pm on Friday afternoon until the end of the day.

Flooding is possible in some areas, and transport delays are possible during rush hour.

The Met Office said: "Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions with the possibility of road closure.

"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train, bus and tube services, particularly during the evening rush hour."

Some areas may miss the downpour altogether, and warm, sunny weather is predicted to return by Monday.
