Met Office issues warning of heavy showers and thunderstorms

The heatwave could be coming to an end as the Met Office warns of heavy showers and thunderstorms predicted later this week.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the south of the country from 1pm tomorrow.

It comes after blistering heat hit the county, causing a number of problems for residents.

The agency said: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms may bring disruption during Wednesday afternoon.

"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

"Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

"There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost."

The county was under an extreme weather warning with temperatures hitting about 38 degrees.

Despite the showers and thunderstorm, temperature is still expected to hit 25 degrees.
