Howletts Wild Animal Park is celebrating the birth of three rare Siberian tiger cubs which can now be seen romping about their enclosure.

The two males and one female have been named Altai, Altay and Sayan after mountain ranges in Siberia.

They have been fathered by 12-year-old Malchek. Mother Nika, four, originally came from Marwell Zoo.

The cubs were born in August following a three month gestation, weighing just a few kilos and 30cms long.

But now they are venturing outside into the open air and can be seen playing with their parents.

Siberian tigers are the largest of the cats and found in the Far East and Russia. Their stripes are like the human fingerprint with no two animals the same.

But there are estimated to only be 500 to 700 left in the wild, with more in captivity.
