Rail services in Kent are being disrupted this morning by an emergency incident and a electricity supply failure.

Southeastern say emergency services have been attending an incident on the Medway Valley Line, with trains between Strood, Maidstone West and Tonbridge affected.

Meanwhile, earlier this morning no high speed trains were able to run due to a failure of the electricity supply.

However, power has just been restored so services will once again be able to run to St Pancras "shortly".

But Southeastern has warned: "There will still be delays and disruption while we work to get trains on time again."

Elsewhere, trains have been unable to run on the Medway Valley Line while emergency services attend an incident on the line.

Replacement buses were arranged to run in place of cancelled trains.

At 6.25am, Southeastern tweeted: "Emergency services remain on site at the incident affecting #MedwayValleyLine services this morning.

"Replacement buses will be running between Strood and Maidstone West while they attend the incident."

At 7.10am, the firm said the emergency services "have now finished dealing with the incident on the #MedwayValleyLine, so trains can now run again between Strood and Maidstone West".

They tweeted: "The first train from Strood is expected to be the 07:34 service, and from Maidstone West it'll be the 08:03."

Police have been asked for more information.
