Commuters were facing travel chaos this morning as icy conditions disrupted train services.

Southeastern services were cancelled or delayed by more than an hour due to poor rail conditions.

Services were brought to a halt on Southeastern between Tonbridge and Hastings and passengers were advised not to travel.

The line reopened just before 12.30pm with the first service expected to run at 12.31pm from Hasting to Charring Cross.

The first line from London to Hasting is expected at 3.35pm.

Commuters were helped to get to work by being allowed to use their tickets on Southern services, the London Underground and stations and the DLR.

They have voiced their frustration at the delays.

Marcus Chrysostomou tweeted: "Blimey, they are de-icing the track between Faversham and Sittinbourne so we are stuck at Faversham.

"Clearly they never got the weather reports about icey conditions."

Other services are still suffering delays.
